Mindfulness March

May I be one of the first to welcome you to the month of March. It’s been a busy start to the year and we have seen many new faces joining classes and reaping the benefits of the tools that yoga has to offer. There has been a lot of very good feedback and suggestions for new classes and workshops which is so exciting as it means that more people are opening up to self-exploration and growth.

As we move deeper into the year, now is a good time to pause and reflect on what is serving you in your present and what is not. This requires a certain level of mindfulness; being aware of every aspect of your life. Are you surrounding yourself with people & activities that feed your positivity and nourish your soul? Do you have the courage & determination to change the situation if this is not the case?

Being on the mat and moving through your practice is likened to life in the way that challenging poses come up and we approach it with a sense of calm mind and deep breath. I pray that your yoga journey continues off the mat and arms you with the power to deal with life’s situations in the same way you approach your practice.

The new YIN CLASS is here and the first one is FREE!

There is a move towards Yin yoga as a means to stretching the body that normal yang style vinyasa classes do not. In a Yin class we focus on holding postures for minutes at a time with the use of props. Most poses are mat based, as in done seated or in the supine position and work directly on stretching out the soft connective tissue that surrounds and fills the inner body.

For now we will be running a class once a month to gauge interest.

FIRST CLASS: Sunday 31st March 09h30-10h45

At Millenium Hall in Purton (SN5 4DT)

(less than 10mins from West Swindon)

And then afterwards there will be coffee, tea & cake

The next Beginners workshop is next week!

Beginners: Enhance Your Yoga Journey

Sat 9th Mar 09h30-12h30

At: Shaw Ridge Primary School SN5 5PU

This is the follow on to the Beginners workshop that was held in January.

In this comprehensive 3 hour workshop we will build on the yoga poses & breath work previously learnt. Modifications will be offered to those who missed the 1st session or are new to the practice. For those wanting to progress, this will give you the tools and confidence to keep your home practice moving safely forward.

If you're an experienced practitioner, this workshop will bring you back to basics and reinforce alignment & breath.

Sat 6th April 09h30-12h30

At: Shaw Ridge Primary School SN5 5PU

The 7 main chakras can be classified as swirling wheels of electromagnetic energy that start at the base of the spine and end at the crown of the head.

When the energy enters into a chakra and is blocked, it will try to express itself through a psychological disassociation & eventually manifesting through physical problems.

In this workshop we will be exploring all these 7 chakras. We will analyse postures & breathing techniques that work to balance & clear these energy centers & enhance their vitality.

There will also be an hour chakra flow where we incorporate a specifically designed sequence aimed at bringing these energy centres to a state of equilibrium.

Sat 11th May 09h30-12h30

At: Shaw Ridge Primary School SN5 5PU

This workshop will be based around learning the tools & skills required when approaching balances and inversions.

You DO NOT need to be proficient in balance or inversions in order to attend as we will break the poses down and get you to a place where you’re comfortable to continue your practicing at home.

I will provide you with the knowledge, courage and motivation to attempt these postures in a safe environment with correct alignment.

Shhhhh….. There is something super exciting brewing for June.

I’m planning for this to be the biggest yoga event of the year. Keep reading the newsletters for more information soon to be released.
