The 2 Teen yoga classes we’ve done so far have been absolutely incredible.
What a special time in a young person’s development to be starting the practice of learning the tools to deals with the pressures of life. I cease to be amazed at the postures these youngsters are capable of achieving. Long may they stay that way.
We lose our flexibility so early on in life. I feel so proud to be a part of this.
Teenagers need to be both nurtured and acknowledged for the immense pressure under which they are required to function. Think back to when you were a teenager…. Stressful? Now add the enormity of instant communication and social media to the mix and it’s no wonder they can’t switch off.
EARTH YOGA KIDS
I AM IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS!
I am humbled to have spent last week teaching the joys of yoga to every class from reception to the years 6’s in a primary school in Shrivenham. Talk about exhausting magical experiences!
I watched the children come alive with each new animal we portrayed, we moved through breathing, movement and mindful imagination. These valuable tools are gifts to our children.

I also offer raneg of motion testing with tailored plans to help increase your mobility.

POSE OF THE MONTH
UTTHITA PARSVAKONASANA
(Extended Side Angle Pose)

Level 1: Keep the elbow resting on the thigh with the palm facing upwards. Use the elbow and lower arm to press the knee backwards to open up the inner thigh and hip. The top arm is straight with the palm facing downwards. Press into the outside of the back foot to keep the muscles on the inside of the leg stretching. Open the ribcage towards the sky. The gaze is slightly down and angled diagonally across the body.
Level 2: This is the same as for level one except that the arm is in front of the leg with the hand/fingers resting in front of the foot on the floor. (This level can be done with the hand behind the foot). Press the shoulder into the knee to keep it pressing open.
Level 3: Release the bottom and hand & bring it underneath the leg. Reach around with the top arm and find a bind with the top hand pulling on the bottom wrist. Now spread the chest and breathe. Soften the neck.

POWER YOGA
This is a dynamic, high energy yoga class that is linked through Vinyasa flow. This session will challenge strength, flexibility and endurance

HOT YOGA
This class is similar to the Power Yoga class, but it’s done in a heated room up to 35 degree’s. The body is able to deepen into stretches and holds with the addition of the heat. This is also a dynamic, high energy class that is linked through Vinyasa flow
