June 2018 Cotswold Escape Retreat Feedback

"I loved the weekend.  I was relatively new to Yoga, but had been keen for some time to try.  I am a big believer in trying new things and a supporter of the concept of lifelong learning.  I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and came away enthusiastic about further exploring yoga.  There was just the right amount of yoga and you were very skilled at flexing your teaching so it was suitable for everybody in the group.  Great venue, superb food and lovely group of participants.

Thank you for all your care, teaching and attention, especially while having to manage such a difficult time at home."

"Thank you for a most amazing retreat experience, the effects have stayed with me even 2 weeks later and I’ve started incorporating some of the ‘new’ yoga into my practice.  The whole weekend was completing relaxing and restorative, it felt like a week-long holiday!

I particularly enjoyed trying the different types of yoga, especially the yin which is not something I’d have considered before.  I liked the use of new props and have gone on to order a bolster and the lower blocks.  I felt challenged but not overwhelmed in your classes – I had been doubtful about the number of classes and being able to keep up but that was never a concern as I got into the weekend,

you seemed to give the most perfect class for each session and no two were the same; you read the mood and energy of group very well and were adaptive to our needs.  I liked that you set the scene ahead of time, letting us know that our level of participation was entirely of our choosing – knowing I had the freedom to participate or absent myself put my mind at ease.

The choice of venue was superb – it allowed us all space for privacy if we needed it and fun communal areas for other times.  The cottages and gardens were very restful and helped set the scene for some of the most incredible yoga practice that I have experienced.  I would have liked to try an outside session – your pictures of your poses in the garden are just lovely.

Everything was catered for absolutely perfectly, you’d considered everything down to the little details of drinks and snacks in the cottages etc.  And the meals were sublime – varied, wholesome, tasty food that made every meal a delight!

I think we all enjoyed the opportunity to ease into the weekend on Friday, over drinks and snacks and adding a lecture part to that evening might have stilted the flow, so in retrospect I think your schedule was spot on.  I would have liked to do a second meditation too, time permitting.

I also really liked that we were not under pressure to leave on Sunday – the previous retreat I did ended after Sunday lunch and it was a rather abrupt ejection back into the real world.  By extending the booking for the Sunday night, you allowed us to fully enjoy the day (no early packing and clearing up) and to depart absolutely in our time which was a real treat.

Overall, the retreat exceeded my expectations, you created a friendly, relaxed environment in a stunning setting that complimented the yoga beautifully.  Thank you again, and I will certainly be attending a future retreat!"

"You know, of course, how much I loved the weekend retreat, as I have already booked places for myself and daughter on the September one!
A few more specific points of feedback:-
1. The venue: I loved the beautifully furnished cottages with spacious, comfortable bedrooms, extensive grounds with interesting sculptures, ponds, Moorish pavilion, tennis courts, varied planting. Yoga studio, warm indoor swimming pool and hamaam were all of exceptional quality. Maybe ask them to move table at back of room into the storage room to make space for a couple of extra yoga mats?
2. The location: pretty village with easy access by road and paths to places worth visiting. ( useful information on possible excursions in folders in cottages).
3. Catering: we were very lucky to have Wenna cooking for us. She had taken great care to suit the meals to our group and individual needs and provided a succession of tasty, tempting and nutritious meals.  My favourite was the tex-mex with tortilla wraps. Wenna combined a totally professional approach with a friendly presence and she was lovely company.
4. The yoga: as a regular attendee at your weekly classes, I already knew I would be in the hands of an exceptional teacher. Having the luxury of a whole weekend retreat to devote to yoga with you was a wonderful experience, enhanced by the stimulating company of the other group members. Your group management skills (and the kir royal!) enabled us to gel quickly into a supportive group.  The programme had just the right balance of organised activity and free time, so that we never felt rushed but we also felt that we had been challenged to do more than we might have thought possible. We all commented on Sunday that we felt we had been on a week's holiday rather than a mere weekend away.  Every session was satisfying in itself and you always ensured that we could each practise at a level appropriate to our individual needs. The variety of the sessions was stimulating, enjoyable and beneficial.
Thank you so much"
